Patch 14.4 Preview

On February 14, Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, the lead gameplay designer for League of Legends, provided a preview of the upcoming changes to Smolder. The patch will include nerfs to Smolder's W ability in the early game and tweaks to his Q ability. Additionally, Smolder's ultimate will receive a buff, resulting in an overall balanced patch for the champion.

Changes to Smolder's Abilities

Super Scorcher Breath (Q)

Smolder's Q ability, which is his main source of damage throughout the game, will undergo modifications. At 125 stacks, the ability will send out fewer fireballs, but they will deal more damage. Furthermore, if the target dies while the missile is still in flight, Smolder will receive a stack.

Achooo! (W)

The W ability, Achooo!, will undergo the most significant changes. Its cooldown will be longer in the early levels but shorter at max level. Similarly, its damage will be reduced in the early game but increased in the late-game.

Ultimate Ability

Smolder's ultimate ability will now cast even if the champion dies during the cast time. This change provides a significant buff, particularly in scenarios involving mages and assassins.

Current Win Rate

As of now, Smolder is not performing well as an AD Carry, with a win rate below 50 percent across various ranks, according to U.GG. However, the AP Spear of Shojin build has achieved win rates above 60 percent. Riot Games is closely monitoring Smolder's performance and may make further adjustments.

Conclusion

Patch 14.4 for League of Legends is scheduled to be released on Thursday, February 22. With the upcoming changes to Smolder's abilities, players can expect a more balanced and enjoyable gameplay experience.
